Welcome to Tentrr Camping in Capital Saratoga

The Capital-Saratoga region of New York encompasses six counties, each more beautiful than the last: Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Saratoga, Washington, and Fulton. Known primarily as the best getaway from the business of New York City, there’s much to do in Capital-Saratoga, and camping there is a treat. While camping, you probably won’t be visiting the Broadway shows in The Stockade, or performances at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, you may very well want to visit the Troy’s farmer’s market, tour the farms of Washington County, or fish in one of Fulton County’s 44 lakes.

Fulton County is where the Adirondack Park meets the Mohawk Valley, and is known as “The Land of 44 Lakes”. Whether your interests are in boating, swimming, kayaking, or fishing, you’re sure to find exactly something to suit you in this beautiful area. Camp in one of Ferris Lake Wild Forest’s 97 designated campsites for a true taste of what this part of New York is all about. In its six lakes you’ll find trout, salmon, smallmouth bass, sunfish, yellow perch, chain pickerel, and more. And in the winter? Ice fishing is just as fun.

If you like hunting with your camping, with the proper permits you can pursue white-tailed deer, black bear, bobcat, racoon, river otter, beaver, wild turkey and ruffed grouse.

In Shaker Mountain Wild Forest, you’ll find a 60-foot Mountain Fire Tower, built in 1925 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. While you’re camping there, Bellows Lake Trail, Holmes Lake Trail, and Sailor Swamp Trail are great starting points for mountain biking.

If you want to get your boat out on the water for either fishing or waterskiing, 24,000 acre Great Sacandaga Lake has three boat launches.

Washington County’s Moreau Lake State Park is a favorite for the sheer variety of activities. While camping there you can bike, boat, fish, grill, hike, hunt, and swim. And if you decide to visit in the winter you can ice fish, snowshoe, and cross country ski. With a permit you can bring your horses with you and explore the trails and backroads.
