Welcome to Tentrr Camping in West Virginia

West Virginia is more than just coal mines--it’s a beautiful state full of pristine wilderness that is ready and waiting for eager campers to pitch a tent, make a campfire, and enjoy each other’s company overnight--or over two weeks.

There is so much to do in this state we don’t know where to begin. In the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System you can get offroad and enjoy the mud and the ATVs. Or you could take the Cass Scenic Railroad and take a trip back to the era of steam locomotives and lumbering towns. Or for something completely different, visit Berkeley Springs, the home to a mineral spa that has been used for time immemorial, keeping a year-round temperature of 74.3 degrees.

Let’s say you love to fish. Camping in West Virginia gives you access to trout, bass, bluegill and other sport fish. Several state parks, forest lakes, and streams are stocked with trout in March, April, and May. Bluestone Lake is a favorite for boaters and anglers who are looking for a nice lake to do their West Virginia camping. Or you can fish on a river at Blackwater Falls, which includes the 57-foot waterfall, 20 miles of hiking trails, and the longest sledding magic carpet on the East Coast.

If you’re looking for history, camping at Blennerhassett Island Historical Park (which must be accessed by a sternwheeler riverboat). From there you can enjoy tours of the historic mansion and take carriage rides. Or camp near Droop Mountain Battlefield, the site of the final Civil War battle to take place in West Virginia--you can see reenactments in Octobers, and there is hiking, picnicking and play areas year round.

If camping while hunting, there are excellent sites. There is archery and crossbow deer hunting, muzzleloader deer hunting, deer buck gun hunting, plus black bear, wild turkey, and wild boar. Camp in places like Cabwaylingo, Greenbrier, Kumbrabow, and Seneca forests.

And camping in the wintertime is an entirely different experience that must be lived. Cross Country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and even downhill skiing can be done at Blackwater Falls, Canaan Valley, and Pipestem State Park.

So come on out to West Virginia and see why it’s “Almost Heaven.”
