While the National Forest does have wild animals (bears, mountain lions, bobcats, porcupines, deer, elk, etc) sighting and interaction are rare but you may be serenaded by coyotes at night. We have apple, pear and cherry trees at ones disposal.

I grew up in Austin when it was still laid back, but eventually felt the call of the mountains and quit my tech job. Now I manage two ranches in Santa Fe, and curate unique experiences and spaces for people so that everyone can get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the great outdoors.
