Site Guidelines

Do watch your furry friends in the evening when they come with you, there are critters that wander around. (skunks, raccoons and porcupine) The small turtle pond has a murky bottom(their favorite), but the Darnit Brook on the other side of the tent has a sandy bottom and a little beach, perfect for pets to paddle in. You don't need to take your trash & recyclables, just leave them in the 3 provided bins and we will pick it up.

Hello, We are Lynn and Richard Piper of Piper Ranch and camp keepers for Private Retreat at River's Edge, the Darnit Brook, & Painted Turtle Pond sites. We have a farm in Buckfield, ME. and have Scottish Highland Cattle, egg laying chickens and meat chickens. We sell our beef and chicken here on the farm and at Girard Farm Store in Waterboro, ME. Now we also sell at Shaw's Rt.1 Saco, every Sat. 8am to 12:30 and will be at the Vinegar Hill Music Theatre on Sun. 3pm to 7pm, starting the end of June. We welcome our tent enthusiasts to the Western Foothills of Maine, it is a beautiful area. Our ever-present dog in our photos is Piper.
