Without a doubt, camping is an excellent way to strengthen family bonds, or even to begin a new romantic relationship. Let’s rewind and take a look at some of the most unforgettable camping romances. Here are our favorite camp romances in movie history.

1. Moonrise Kingdom (2012)

Movie Setting: An island off the coast of New England, 1965

Best Moment: Sam (Jared Gilman), an orphan on scout camp, and Suzy (Kara Hayward), a misunderstood girl, fall in love and decide to run away together into the wilderness. Sam brings camping equipment, and Suzy brings her binoculars, books and record player. They hike and camp together to reach a secluded cove on the island. The touching and loving story feels like a love letter to the children’s adventure book about adolescence, growing up and first love. Also, Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, and Jason Schwartzman are particularly brilliant in the supporting cast.

2. Little Darlings (1980)

Movie Setting: Summer camp, Atlanta.

Best Moment: Two teenage girls, Ferris Whitney (Tatum O'Neal) and Angel Bright (Kristy McNichol) meet when they attend the same summer camp, and they enter into a bet on who will lose her virginity first. Although the two girls have a believable rivalry, they end in a moment that captures the true essence of teenage friendships. Angel introduces her new best friend Ferris to her mother when "Let The Love Flow" by the Bellamy Brothers starts playing in the final scene.

3. Wet Hot American Summer (2001)

Movie Setting: Camp Firewood, Maine.

Best Moment: On the last day of camp, a group of counselors try to complete their business before the day ends. Beth (Janeane Garofalo), the camp director, struggles to keep her counselors in order, while falling in love with Henry (David Hyde Pierce), an astrophysics associate professor. Coop (Michael Showalter) has a crush on Katie (Marguerite Morean), his fellow counselor. And McKinley (Michael Lan Black) married with Ben (Bradley Cooper) in a ceremony in the lake, who are the only same-sex couples in this movie.

4. Happy Campers (2001)

Movie Setting: Camp Bleeding Dove, North Carolina.
Best Moment: Wichita (Brad Renfro), the brooding camp counselor, begins to find himself attracted to Wendy (Dominique Swain), and they begin to date one another. Wendy uses a test to seduce Wichita in the woods in order to test the legitimacy of Wichita’s feelings for her. However, Wichita overheard her plan and kisses another girl. On the last day of camp, Wichita confesses to Wendy of his proposed action. The love story between Wichita and Wendy just likes a flourishing romance, but feels incredibly true to real life.

5. Camp Takota (2014)

Movie Setting: Camp Tokota, Illinois.

Best Moment: Elise (popular YouTuber Grace Helbig) is forced to work as a camp counselor at her old summer camp after her life is in shambles.
